Joe Fischer, a full time entertainer, became interested in magic at 10 years old. If anyone asked what he was going to do when he grew up the reply was always the same - A MAGICIAN.
Some early influences were Bob McAllister, Host of Wonderama. Bob was a magician and as host of this local kid TV show he would have guest magicians appear as well as a segment called Bob's Bamboozlers where he taught simple magic tricks each week. Actor Bill Bixby starred in a one season show call The Magician. Bixby was a crime fighting magician that used magic each week to catch the bad guy. Finally, a new Broadway show (THE MAGIC SHOW), opened starring unknown magician Doug Henning. He changed the look of magic. It became modern and hip. Joe was hooked.
Joe found every book about magic and Houdini at the local library. He memorized most of those beginner tricks. Interest grew thru elementary, high school and continued into college. Many felt this was a great hobby to have but he needed to decide what he was going to do as a profession. Guidance counselors would giggle when he discussed the future and ask "but what do you really want to do". His parents always said you can do anything you want as long as you get a college degree, and he did in marketing/business.
It was at this time that Joe created educational assembly programs for schools. Joe knew that to make this a career he had to offer a product that would allow him to work during the week and not just parties on the weekends. Some of those first shows are still performed in schools today. Issues dealing with substance abuse, reading, and the environment are taught using magic. If is estimated that over one million students have witnessed one of these shows throughout the years.
In an effort to share his love of magic and the arts Joe created several workshop type programs that teach the skills needed tp perform magic, juggling, balloon sculpting and origami. Pre School to senior centers have all been treated to his talents.
Organizations looking to raise funds for their cause also turn to Joe Fischer. A special fundraising program was developed that provides everything (show, posters, tickets) FREE OF CHARGE.
Today, Joe can be found performing just about anywhere. Schools, libraries, town recreations, camps, private events like birthdays , communions, all types of holiday celebrations or just for groups looking for a wonderful time.
This hobby for a 10 year old has become his profession. Hey, if it didn't work out he always could of been a baseball player.
